Posting an ad

Is it free to post a property on Bariwali?

Yes — posting is completely free. There is no listing fee, no commission and no premium tier. Create one account, publish as many ads as you like, and remove an ad yourself once the property is sold or rented.

How long does it take to post an ad?

About five minutes. You fill in five short steps — property type and area, price and size, Bengali and English description, photos, and contact details. Photos are compressed in the browser before upload, so it also works on slow connections.

How long does a listing stay live?

Each ad stays published for 90 days. After that it expires automatically and you can republish it from your dashboard with one click. Once the property is sold or rented you can mark it and take it down yourself.

Do I have to write the ad in both Bengali and English?

No, it is optional — but filling both reaches more people. Bengali is the site’s primary language, so a Bengali title and description matter most. If English is left blank, the Bengali text is shown on the English version of the site.

How many photos can I add?

Up to 12 photos, each up to 5 MB. Images are compressed automatically before upload, so large phone photos are fine. The first photo becomes the cover — a bright, front-facing shot gets the most clicks.

Finding a property

How do I find ads in my own area?

Type the area name in the search box on the home page, or narrow down by division → district → area. On the search page the “near me” button uses your browser location and sorts ads by real distance in kilometres.

Can I find a property without a broker?

Yes. Most ads are posted by the owners themselves, so in most cases you speak directly to them. There is no middleman and no brokerage fee — the phone number and messages go straight to the person who posted the ad.

Do I need an account to see phone numbers?

Yes — revealing a number requires a free account, which is how we keep scrapers and scammers away. You can register with an email address or in one click with Google, and the owner is notified when their number is revealed.

Safety

How can I spot a fake listing?

Never send money before visiting the property — especially advance booking money or a “viewing fee”. Be suspicious of prices far below the market, verify the owner’s identity and papers when you visit, and use the “report” button on any ad that looks wrong.

Are my password and personal data safe?

Passwords are stored only as scrypt hashes, never as plain text. Sessions are server-side rows and cookies are HttpOnly. When you sign in with Google we receive only your name, email and profile picture — never your password or other Google data.

Account

Can I sign in with Google?

Yes. Press “Continue with Google” on the login page to sign in with your Google account — no extra password to remember. If you already had an account with the same email address, it is linked automatically on first use.

How do I delete my account and data?

Use “Delete account” at the bottom of the profile page. It removes your account together with your ads, saved properties and messages, and clears your cookies. Deletion cannot be undone, so save anything you need first.
